Frequently asked questions
A backwater valve allows wastewater to flow out of your home but automatically closes if sewage attempts to flow back in. This protects your basement and lower-level drains from backup during heavy rainfall or municipal system issues.
We recommend inspecting and cleaning your backwater valve at least once per year. Regular maintenance ensures the flap operates freely and the valve will close when needed.
